For us, it's personal

Superior Healthcare is a family-run organisation, founded by our CEO, Stewart Thorp.

Stewart founded Superior Healthcare following his experience of organising at-home care for his younger brother, Alex, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a major road traffic accident at the age of 11.

When trying to organise at-home care for Alex, Stewart saw the need for a specialist provider that could seamlessly fit high-quality care into their family life.

Who do we support?

Our team of specialist support workers, healthcare assistants, and registered nurses – including paediatric nurses – supports children, young people, and adults living with conditions including:

How we arrange at-home care

When you choose Superior Healthcare to support you or a loved one, we will work with you to create a care package that is centred around your personal needs and circumstances.

We will appoint a Nurse Manager with the skills and experience to oversee your care. It’s important to us to handpick a team of experienced healthcare professionals who will help you keep doing the things you love.

Before providing your care, we will agree on a support plan, including defining your goals for our service – which we will use to review and measure our performance.

Reviews are ongoing but formal reviews are completed quarterly with you and everyone involved in providing your care package.

Training our specialist team

From our CEO’s experience of finding care for his brother, we understand the challenges of having a care team working in your home. That’s why our learning and development team will create training that is specific to your or your loved ones’ care needs, based on your care needs assessment with one of our nurse managers.

Although our team are experienced, we know that what works for one person may not work for another. Our teams are trained to support every individual’s unique care requirement.

The importance of working together

From our experience providing care, we have learnt that having care in your own home is a two-way street.

As a family, Stewart and his father Charles found that if they wanted a team of high-quality care professionals who they liked and got on with, they had to provide a fantastic working environment.

This isn’t always easy, and we are used to working with clients who have had to make significant adjustments to their home and lifestyle following a life-changing incident or diagnosis. Often, this can create a new and unfamiliar home situation that is far from ideal.

We will work with you and support you to make the best of your situation, so that the care team feel as welcome as possible.

Superior Healthcare have supported many families by working with external parties to ensure they have the right equipment, including hospital beds, hoists and mobility aids. We have also helped improve the home and working environment for our clients, including by providing items like comfortable chairs and desks for the care team to work from during the day, and low-level lighting to promote a sensible night-time environment, which will help the care team to work while you are asleep.
