Ezra is a young boy with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1, he loves school and is supported by a team of specialist Registered Nurses.

Ezra is a bright and curious boy who was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 1, a condition that affects all his muscles, including his breathing and swallowing muscles.

He leads a life full of wonder and excitement—especially when it comes to his love of space. Ezra can even tell you all about what Saturn’s rings are made of!

At school, Ezra loves spending time with his friends, and he always gets a good night’s sleep, thanks to the round-the-clock support he receives from his dedicated nursing team,

Ezra’s 24-hour support

To help manage the complex needs that come with SMA type 1, Ezra has a PEG feeding tube since he cannot swallow, and he wears a back brace to help keep him seated comfortably in his wheelchair. His clinical needs mean Ezra requires consistent nursing support.

During the day, a team of highly trained paediatric nurses from Superior Healthcare accompany him to school, ensuring he can fully participate in his education and social life. At night, the nursing team continues their care, allowing Ezra’s parents to rest, knowing their son is in safe hands.
